February 15, 2019 - CTCA Visit

Just about finished. It’s been a good visit with no changes in treatment planned, and I get to go back on the daily chemo pill. πŸ™‚

It’s been over 7 months since my first visit to CTCA; having spent so much time here (11 trips for a total of 40 days, I think!), it really has become a special place to me, a place of hope and encouragement. The pictures are a few from our first trip until today.

There is an awesome gift shop on the campus that always has discounted books on sale. Today, I found the story of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, called “Radical Integrity”. Bonhoeffer, a pastor and professor, was put in a Nazi concentration camp and was ultimately hanged just before the end of World War II. He wrote these words and I wanted to share them with my FB friends:

“The blessedness of waiting is lost on those who cannot wait, and the fulfillment of promise is never theirs. They want quick answers to the deepest questions of life and miss the value of those times of anxious waiting, seeking with patient uncertainties until the answers come. They lose the moment when the answers are revealed in dazzling clarity.” Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Even though his “waiting” looked so different than mine, these words resonated with me today as I wait - for blood work, results, conversations, insights. I never want to be so impatient for the “next” thing in life that I miss the blessings of today!!

“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord." Psalm 27:14
