“Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!” But the other men who had explored the land with him disagreed. “We can’t go up against them! They are stronger than we are!” Numbers 13:30-31 NLT
Numbers 13/14 is a Bible story that clearly illustrates choosing truth over facts. The facts were as the 10 spies reported - big scary guys lived in the land. But Caleb and Joshua saw past what was in front of them to the truth - that giants are no problem for God.
The story is easy to read, and it's so easy to be critical of those around us who fear - but I can be just as up and down as the 10 spies. One minute I am confident in God’s plan, the next minute I am questioning the future.
The only way to maintain stability in our daily lives? To be anchored to the truth. To seek communion with God, the one who created us and who has numbered our days. :)
