“Integrity is the only thing that doesn't depreciate over time. Nothing takes longer to build than a godly reputation. And nothing is destroyed more quickly by one stroke of sin. That's why it must be celebrated and protected above all else.” - Mark Batterson
We started re|engage last night - which was awesome! I’m helping Tony with coordinating re|engage, and I am more mellow these days than I used to be. But give me the “opening night” of something and I can become a little... let’s just say bossy. Short-tempered. 🙂
And it’s generally felt most by the team I’m working with.
I thought I was keeping it together pretty well until someone said, “I’ve never seen you like this.” Oops!
In so many areas of life, we can think we’ve got the issue conquered and then we get “bumped” - someone doesn’t do what we think they should - and there is a regression in behavior. An old issue pops back up. And being stressed or short-tempered might not sound like an integrity issue to some; but if my behavior is contrary to demonstrating the fruit of the spirit in my life (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control), it is an integrity issue.
What perfect verses to read this morning:
“If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall. The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.” 1 Corinthians 10:12-13 NLT
My prayer is to look more like God in every situation. The temptation to do whatever - show stress, any integrity issue we have - can be endured and overcome as we lean into the one who created us. I am so thankful for that!!
