August 20, 2018

We made a quick flight to Atlanta yesterday, went to Cancer Treatment Centers today and met with a radiation oncologist. I do need radiation, and will be starting on August 27 and continuing for 2 1/2 weeks (coming home on weekends). So thankful for CTC - they are very proactive at diagnosing issues and handling symptoms.
Life is a little overwhelming right now! A mixture of seeing the immense blessings in our lives, while at the same time struggling to process everything that is happening.
I just started reading a book called “When God Doesn’t Fix It” by Laura Story. The first page has a quote that perfectly expresses what I feel:
“We’re all just one phone call away from learning the results of a test or the news of an affair, the death of a loved one, the loss of a job, or a thousand other ways our hope can be shattered.
In that moment, we think life as we know it is over.
The truth is, life, as we’ve yet to know it, has just begun.”
I had a conversation last week with a friend who is dealing with cancer. She said “there have been so many blessings in this time.” And she is right. We decided that you really can’t understand all the good in a season of difficulty until you have experienced it. But it is there.
Continuing to choose joy!!
