“Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.” Psalms 90:12 NLT
I have started reading a book called “One Month to Live.” Some may think that’s an odd choice considering that I have stage 4 cancer. 🙂 But the book applies to all of us and explores what would change in our focus if we were really living as if we had one month left.
It’s interesting that I started reading it this week - the most physically challenging week I’ve ever experienced. I am impatient about feeling bad; it scares me because I think “is this what the rest my life is going to be like?”
But what this week has clarified for me, is what is important in THIS life.
It’s my family, first of all. God has blessed me with the best husband, two incredible daughters and their families, and our extended family. It’s my friends. It’s making a difference in others’ lives. That’s how I want to live and how I want to be remembered.
We probably would all say that - but do our actions reflect it? Are things that we say are priorities, reflected in the way that we live?
“Someday. One day. When. If. Then it’s over. When are we going to wake up and realize this IS life?” Kerry and Chris Shook, One Month to Live
